Software Engineer CDR Sample

The author of this Competency Demonstration Report is an experienced Software Engineer. This CDR was successfully approved by IEAust.

First episode describes work in position of software engineer in a research institute held during his studies in the University. Second episode describes duties, responsibilities, way of work of the author in the full time employment as software engineer in a development project.

Episode 1: Software Engineer in Research Institute

The main responsibilities in this position were:

• Development of program models of algorithms and software for hardware models.
• Design of software for multi board Digital Signal Processing system with C and Assembly languages.
• Used Borland Delphi v5.0, Borland C++ 3.1, TI Code Composer, Math Lab 5 under Windows’9x/NT for modeling. Developed and maintained all appropriate documentation.

Episode 2: Software Engineer - Design of Echo-Depth Sounder  

The main responsibilities in this position were:

• Designed complete DSP software for multibeam echo-depth sounder with C and Assembly languages.
• Designed complete structure of driving program of multibeam echo-depth sounder.
• Designed software debugger for multiprocessor system.

Episode 3: Design of Digital Image Processing Software

• Design of software for digital communication device PC-digital panel and design of image compression software.
• Design of two-dimensional Wavelet transformation function and optimization for Pentium IV processor using multimedia-streaming instructions.
• Design of extremely fast video codec based on Microsoft DirectShow Technology and design of video motion detector.
